Israel, Sudan Agree to Normalize Ties in U.S.-Brokered Deal
DIPLOMATIC TIES ESTABLISHED DURING TRUMP ADMINISTRATION
In 1967, the Arab League convened in the capital of Sudan and passed a famous resolution declaring "n peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with it."
Sudan agreed to normalize relations with Israel on October 23, 2020
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated: ""Today we announce another dramatic breakthrough towards peace," he said. "Today Khartoum says yes to peace with Israel, yes to acknowledging Israel and yes to normalization with Israel. This is a new era, an era of true peace."
White House states: " ...Trump was able to achieve the resolution of the longstanding claims of victims of the East Africa embassy bombings, the attach on the USS Cole, and the murder of USAID employee John Granville....“
The White House states: "This follows on Sudan’s recent agreement to resolve certain claims of United States victims of terror and their families,” noting that the transitional government of Sudan transferred $335 million into an escrow account for these victims and their families."
